Definition of aminals

1. Compounds having two amino groups bonded to the same carbon, R2C(NR2)2. Also called geminal diamines. [The term aminal has also been used, with consequent ambiguity, for -amino ethers (hemiaminal ethers); such use is discouraged.] Cf. hemiaminals.
