Definition of Bacteriochlorin

1. 7,8,17,18-Tetrahydroporphyrin. A reduced porphyrin with two pairs of non-fused saturated carbon atoms (C-7, C-8 and C-17, C-18) in two of the pyrrole rings. See also isobacteriochlorin.
