Definition of depsipeptides

1. Natural or synthetic compounds having sequences of amino and hydroxy carboxylic acid residues (usually -amino and -hydroxy acids), commonly but not necessarily regularly alternating. In cyclodepsipeptides, the residues are connected in a ring. Cf. carboxylic acids.
