Definition of disilane (Si2H6)

  1. a colorless gas that is pyrophoric (capable of igniting spontaneously when exposed to air), highly flammable, and noncorrosive. Disilane is used in the deposition of thin polysilicon films for solar (photovoltaic) cells. [SEMI C3.34-90]
