Definition of extremely low frequency (ELF)

  1. :extremely low frequency magnetic fields, of about 1 Hz to 1 kHz, generated by current flow, most commonly 60 Hz in the U. S. and 50 Hz in Europe, within equipment and facilities. [SEMI E33-94] Also see ELF-sensitive equipment.
