Definition of scaling laws

  1. the set of rules describing how dimension-reduction in integrated circuits interrelate to each other and to the electrical behavior of the resulting devices. Scaling laws are used to predict the impact of size reduction on minimum power supply voltage and on device speed and power, as well as on the geometry of the structures.
