Can anybody please explain to me the concept of back titration and why its is carried out?

You have some sample to be analysed, but for some reasons (stoichiometry, kinetics or something else) the substance doesn't react with the titrants you may use. So you add KNOWN amount of the substance that reacts with your sample and then you titrate EXCESS of that added substance. KNOWN minus EXCESS is the amount that reacted with the original substance.
