Hi. I just started chemistry and am learning about nomenclature. In binary compounds, the Greek prefixes, mono, di, tri, etra, penta, hexa, hepta, and octa are used to differentiate compounds formed with the same elements from another. Does the same principle apply in ionic compounds? What is the difference between an ionic compound and a binary compound? Thanks.

As a student I found the best ways to find answers were right here on the old computer. Type your key words into a search engine and start reading to find the knowledge one seeks.
