| the easiest way to ignite thermite is with a sparkler. now if someone can explain these electolysis theories to me, yes water doesn't conduct unless salt is dissolved in it but you would also be ectrolizing the salt, this would create chlorine gas and sodium, the sodium would react instanly with the water forming sodium hydroxide (lye) and hydrogen. as for the iron, i see nothing happening to it. now the way i understand it is you have a salt water solution with iron powder in the bottom and two electrodes in the water, is this correct? If not please outline the process more clearly because i would like to use it as well. |
place 2 ELECTRODES in sault watter, 1 needs 2 be iron the other dosnt matter copper will do.
connect + to the iron - to the other.

Take a glass mason jar, and 2 iron rods... fill the jar 3/4 of the way with hot water, add as much salt as you can get to disolve into the water hook the iron rods to a battery charger and turn it on when ur done pass this through a coffee filter and let it dry, theres your iron oxide
For the aluminum powder, take aluminum foil and ball mill it for a loooooooong time and you will have flaked aluminum, you can also break open an etch-a-sketch
for the fuse...you can use potassium perchlorate and powdered sugar to ignite the thermite im not quite sure on the perch to sugar ratio...i just use magnesium ribbon
GOOD LUCK!
